Afternoon in the Park
After the race I went and got the girls and we went out for a picnic in the park. I don't like McDonalds but the girls wanted CHICKEN NUGGETS...CHICKEN NUGGETS...so we stopped there and got them some. While standing in line Savannah asks in her loud little girl voice. "I thought you hated McDonalds?"

Bix 2009
The day dawned to a cool 65 no humidity and a light breeze. Again I worked at the finish line watching for anyone that looked like they were in trouble after running the 7 miles. Didn't have that many this year.

End of An Era
My friends Tom and Donna Harken both retired from teaching. Their kids had a surprise party for them. Yes both very surprised.I kinda forgot to take any pictures. Their son was doing a fine job. I think it was 37 and 28yrs served. Yes Donna was only 4 when she started teaching.

Peeps open first store.
The nation's first Peeps store, Peeps & Co, is coming to Maryland this fall.
These pudgy marshmallow chicks and bunnies have certainly racked up quite a following over the 50 years of their existence, so we can't say we're terribly surprised to hear they're getting their own shop in National Harbor in Prince George's County.
According to the Washington Post, the store -- owned by the preciously named company Just Born -- will be packed with Peeperphernalia including Peeps dressed as Village People, Peep pens, key chains and even fancy china.
And what of the "& Co" in the shop's name? Ah, yes. For those who are not happily drowning in a sea of Peeps, available wares will also include Hot Tamales and Mike and Ike's, two other brands owned by Just Born. Of course the puffy critters will be the star of this show.

Going To The Museum
Went on a road trip to The Iowa Children's Museum in Coralville.
