I was just kidding

Seen the news... What the snickerdoodle is going on. I was just kidding about Mel causing a orange alert...now look what's happened. First the car bombs in London and now the nutjobs setting fire to themselves and trying to drive into the Glasgow airport. I hope that they are two differant groups doing this and that there are no more. I think the ones in London were done to kill the fun for the up coming concert for Princess Di. It will be a nightmare to get any where in downtown London for that...and the stuff in Glasgow....bored kids...

Mel if you read this...Head down...and if you see any stranger then you people don't get on the plane.

I ate where?

Back at the beginnging of June Nancy and I went to the Chicago's Printers Row Book Fair. We had lunch at one of the local non-chain resturants. Neither one of us really knew where we were at,the address of the the place etc. We thought we had the name of the place. Well found out got that wrong also.

Its Mel's Fault

The Link below will hopefully take you to a site that has photos from a going away party for a Co worker. Justin has left us to move with his lovely bride to be,to teach English to people in the south....Korea. I wasn't able to go because....lets just say I wasn't able to go...Mel was kind enough to go and take pictures. Now people complain that when I take their picture that they come out looking stupid and well its nice to know that not true. Also all the captions are pure Mel not me..
Here's hoping they have a safe trip and don't have any problems over in Korea. You here that Kim Po what ever.
And incase the link doesn't work I 've stolen one of the pictures and posted it here to prove my point about me taking bad pictures...notice sign above subjects head..fits...

Its been awhile since I've been to an Asian place. Skinny White Chick doesn't like them. Something about rather eating ground glass and chopped up worms.
So this is the latest words of wisdom from inside the fortune cookies

Use your charm and personality to your advantage. (I don't write them I just eat the cookie)

You could prosper in the field of entertainment. (I'd like to thank the academy for voting for me)

Your principles mean more to you than money or success. (I'd also like to thank the small people)

Chicago Printers Row Book Fair.

Nancy and I took a road trip today. Why is it when I say that to people they get this weird look in their eyes. Its not like we ever get into trouble. This time its up to Chicago for the Printer's Row Book Fair. Sponsored by the Chicago Trib,Target,Barnes and Noble and CSPAN. Off we go at 6am. First stop the newly remodeled Dekalb Oasis. Its still an over priced Mc Donald's on the side of the hiway.
It wasn't all fun and games. We dropped in at the son's house to take in a 3000 pound sofa bed. Then onto the city.

Interstate 88 looking east.

Don't want to know how much this cost the state...nice if your lost.

The Chicago skyline in the distance on 290...yes the Hancock building on the left and Sear tower on the right...lean in see...closer...closer...see it...good...now clean off the nose print and continue down.
Some object d' art along the high way. Spirit of the Flame or something like that
Ad for a restaurant on the side of a building.
Old Dearborn Station at the end of Dearborn St
Author Chris Bohjalian speaks at the Barnes and Noble tent. For the longest time thought Chris was she...He had his book as an Oprah title...
Why the name of the bookfair. the old printers row in Chicago
Crowds on Dearborn looking south to Dearborn Station.

More crowds along Polk street.

I think I heard of this place
Some guy reading his sad poetry."The cold mud stuck to my shoe as the smell of decay filled my nose...I knew I was home again."

Nancy next to an antique printing press.
Went to a place called 17 West in the old Bergdorff Hotel for lunch. We had Helga as a waitress sweet young girl. (tongue stuck firmly in check about that) Food ok not great. Watercress and fennel salad...looked like someone had snipped pieces off a plant and put it on the plate. I didn't know if I wanted to eat it or put it in water to try and grow roots. Dark wood. dark place. tryed to take a picture with out a flash...draw attention to myself. So I took a picture of the window that was behind us. Its a glass of Root beer. This place is supposed to be known for it.

Got back home by 6,tired, hot and sweaty. Don't think we will be going back next year. And learned and important lesson.... few places sell Dr Pepper in downtown chicago.....

As heard on TV

A lady and her baby get onto a bus and pay the fare. The driver looks over at them and said...My god that is the ugliest baby I have ever seen. The lady is taken back but goes and sits down. A man sits next to her and can tell that she is upset....
What's wrong? he ask
The driver insulted me .she states.
Well go up there and tell him off. I'll watch your monkey.
