Speedy Delivery

Just click on picture to see it bigger.

Was on my way to work today going down Kirkwood when I came around a corner and saw this.
Now the low bridge gives you three warning. A sign a block away then you have to hit the tubes hanging down then another sign right before the bridge. Well Mr. Fedex driver wasn't paying attention and BAM...But what really gets me is that the truck is in there at an angle..Hope no packages got damaged. Go UPS.

Christmas Cheer part 2

Younger sister on the left...older sister on the right...Didn't plan it that way.

Mail Call

Last year at Christmas time someone said that they got as much wanted junk mail in their mail box as they did on the computer. Wanted junk mail is stuff that you signed up for to get.
I decided to track it this year to see who was the worst at sending out email messages. I started the week of Thanksgiving and went to Christmas.
The winner or loser was Abercrombie and Fitch. I got one a day from them and for one week three a day. Also I get from their subsidiary Hollister, they sent out one a day and for that one week two a day. The next down the list at one a day was JC Penny, Kohls and Macy's.
Then there was the nice twice a week ones. L.L. Bean,Eddie Bauer,Borders, Elder Beerman, Saks, and Dillards. Yes I do get a lot of store emails.
Finally there is the ones that only came once a week. Hobby Lobby,Crate and Barrel,J. Crew,Old Navy,IKEA,Burlington Coat Factory and The Gap.
How many of these emails made me shop at some place over another...None. But I never know when one of them may send out something that I just had to have.
If I get a survey from any of them I will say that once a week is nice.

Christmas Cheer

These are two of the nice ladies from the Bend of The River Pilot Club.Their group volunteers every Christmas to helps wrap gifts. The only do the first half of the season and then another group does the last two weeks. Wish they could do the whole time. They are always nice and cheerful. And tonight I found they also act as an unofficial information booth.
The money they raise is used to help people in the community improve their quality of life.
In February they will be doing a trivia night to raise money.
Pilot members are business and professional leasers who share a common trait, the desire to help people in need and make the world a better place to live.
Information about the Pilot Club can be found at www.pilotinternational.org

We Saw Dasher and Dancer and

On the way home from LeClaire we went through Scott Community College. In two different places off to the side of the road are deer. Just calmly having some dinner. Went by them slowly so they didn't dart into the road...

Auk What Der Food

After a couple hours of hard shopping and walking up and down the main st of Leclaire it was time to eat. The Bierstube is a new restaurant in Leclaire that sits on the rive. you have a beautiful view of the river from your table. It was nice out but not enough to sit out on the patio, which I sure in the summer time is really nice

Looking over into either Rapids City or Port Byron. They all run together over there.
German place but the building is Italian style
SNL anyone
View from the table....oooooo..ahhh....
ah...

Christmas Walk In LeClaire.

Met Old Lady Gimm and Caretaker Jane for the annual Christmas walk in Leclaire. We started out meeting at the local business Pelo's run by the eccentric Gregory Pelo. We walked up Main St and looked in all the little shops at the crafts and over priced stuff. Got some home made treats at the church mmmm good.

Jane making a point. Really I have one...somewhere.
Feel right at home...do your own dishes.
Kathy in the Halloween room at one place...something to strive for Kathy
Modern transport...
Why does the theme from Emmerdale keep running through my head?
Hand painted, Hand made.....$3700......look don't touch...

No pictures of the home made treats...we ate them to quck.

The Grasshopper Shoppe In Leclaire

One of our stops on the Christmas walk was a businness called The Grasshopper.
What can you say bad about a business that has a wine cellar? Nothing really. The Grasshopper in Leclaire is a on stop gift shop. Kitchen stuff, candles, soaps, cards,a little of this a lot of that and frogs. And wines. It stocks most of the local wines and they have wine tasting to check them out. MMMM...Wide River good stuff.

Speaks To Me

Saw this in one of the stores on the Christmas walk in Leclaire and it just brought to mind so many people I know...

Symphony of Lights in Clinton.

Went to Clinton with My Elderly sister, the twins,Old lady Gimm,Caretaker Jane and Lulu to see the Symphony of Lights that the Chamber puts on every year in Eagle Point Park. Taking pictures of lights I knew wouldn't come out that good but here is a couple.
The old and the young liked it equally.

Ansel Adams Has Nothing On Me

Trying to get artsy with the new camera...light shadow and stuff like that...

November 8th and its 75 out

The last couple days its been really nice out. So day off and nothing much to do. I decide to go for a walk.. Down to the river front and over to the government bridge.

The bridge is in some record book for being old and still working. Not something I want to think about as I walk/drive over it...
The nice looking walkway up to the bridge.
That you can look through to the ground below...way way ...maybe 10 ft below. And the rushing river.

Two ducks out enjoying the day.

the roller dams. the River is high for this time of year.
Me taking a picture of someone taking pictures. She waved when she saw what I was doing.

A nice mural in downtown.
