Deep thoughts

What you doing Constance?
Contemplating the effects that Creation versus evolution will have on the modern house cat in the 21st century.
No really, what are you doing?
Reviewing the irony in Proust and how it mirrors life in urban America.
Constance…
Trying to decide if I want a cookie or a brownie or both.
Go for both….I’m bored…
What? Finished destroying all the toys, Savannah?
I’m testing there endurance.
Note to self…never ride with Savannah when she drives a car..
What, Constance?
Nothing.
Maybe we can go over to Uncles. That was fun.
Yes except for the button pushing episode.
People of the world are relying too much on their remotes. They need to get up and do the stuff manually.
He told you no, and stop it, repeatedly. Savannah. I think that you got off lightly. He’s not a push over like some people.
Who is a push over….
Really Savannah…
Uncle does need to get Happy Feet. I sure mom would love to give it to him. I wonder why she gets that far away look when we ask for it…
I don’t know Savannah…and there is the little twitch in her eye.
I was surprised that he didn't get upset when he found that I had put some designs on his boring pillowcase.
Yeah Savannah I thought that was going to be a time out for sure. I sometimes think that you are on time out more then free.
I’m a free spirit sister.
The word brat comes to mind.
Me? a brat
If the b fits. And I'm sure you will be called another b word later in life.
You just think your smart cuz you never get into trouble with him…St. Constance.
Oh you didn’t see the look I got when I hit the singing rabbits foot for the fifth time…Notice how that has been moved up high now.
Food is good at uncles house.
Eggs,sausage,toast, juice
Then turkey and stuffing later for lunch. I was so sleepy after that…I wonder why he had us eat it all?
Don’t know Savannah, maybe he knew you could eat an entire turkey breast by your self.
I wonder when he’s going have that little boy over again.
Don’t like someone else stealing your spot light Constance.
Eat your cookie Savannah….hey that’s mine….

I'm trying something new here...

You may or maynot see a video playing. Its something I read about and trying it out here.

The Bix after party

Runners relaxing next to the Bud truck

Live music by a local group

And the longest line wasn't waiting to get energy drinks or fruits....the breakfast of champions

And on and on went the line.

Bix 7 2007 ...the Med Tent

This year my elderly sister said instead of standing in my front yard and drinking Champagne and orange juice, that she volunteered us to work for Genesis in the Med Tent...She told me that there wouldn't be that much blood...mostly puke and sweat.I helped out in the Chutes. We watched the runners come across the finish line and made sure there were OK...Signs to look for no sweating,gray,puking...passing out at your feet. I heard that about 80 people used our service.
I got a little sun standing there. Arms feel ok...the neck is another story. Next year..I'll think about it.

Won't Dorothy be thrilled.

I know what I'm doing...I'm a nurse.

And the end

I finally finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Plotlines. I'm not going to do a chapter by chapter review of it. J.K. is a great story teller, just not a good writer. Plot holes the size of Texas, action scenes that drag and 1.5 dimension characters. And this is not a kids book. The age level of the language is junoir high or higher. I hope some third grader doesn't sit down and read it.Mommy what does.....mean? Oh the religious nuts will have a field day with this.
Yeah, yeah, I know whine, but I still read it ...wanted to know how it all ended..yep wrapped up in a pretty tartan colour package. It will be interesting to see how some of the book it played out in the movie. CGI is their friend. Its now in the pipeline that she's writing a 8 book. No need to get in line just yet. Its going to be an index of all the people and places and what not of the books.for the obsessed...Now I'll just hang on to them and wait for the girls to be old enough to read them.

It's just around the corner.

With it being only 150 shopping days til christmas. I thought it was time to come up with some statements to help get through the season.

1. Okay, okay! I take it back. Unf**k you.
2. You say I'm a bitch like it's a bad thing.
3. Well, this day was a total waste of make-up.
4. Well, aren't we a damn ray of sunshine?
5. Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after.
6. Do I look like a people person?
7. This isn't an office. It's hell with fluorescent lighting.
8. I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.
9. Therapy is expensive. Popping bubble wrap is cheap. You choose.
10. Why don't you try practicing random acts of intelligence and senseless acts of self-control?
11. I'm not crazy. I've been in a very bad mood for 30 years.
12. Sarcasm is just one more service I offer.
13. Do they ever shut up on your planet?
14. I'm not your type. I'm not inflatable.
15. Stress is when you wake up screaming and you realize you haven't gone to sleep yet!
16. Back off!! You're standing in my aura.
17. Don't worry. I forgot your name too.
18. I work 45 hours a week to be this poor.
19. Not all men are annoying. Some are dead.
20. Wait...I'm trying to imagine you with a personality.
21. Chaos, panic and disorder .. my work here is done.
22. Ambivalent? Well, yes and no.
23. You look like shit. Is that the style now?
24. Earth is full. Go home.
25. Aw, did I step on your poor little itty bitty ego?
26. I'm not tense, just terribly, terribly alert.
27. A hard-on doesn't count as personal growth.
28. You are depriving some village of an idiot.
29. If assholes could fly, this place would be an airport.
30. Look in my eyes ... Do you see one ounce of gives-a-shit?

Well just wait and see my dear sister...All was well...
All is well what...?
Well you wouldn't be so behind if you hadn't stopped and read that other book.
Well Uncle said it was good....but really it took so long cuz I had to
stop and explain stuff to him..Proust isn't for everyone you know...

Rambling

So its another beautiful day in the neighbourhood. I spend the day trying to clean house. What it turned into it moving junk from one place to another. I did get all my clothes folded and put away. I do have a lot of stuff/junk. I turned in two bags of bottles $10. now I have two more to take in.So why all the what I did. I'm trying to figure out where my day went. Maybe it was catching up on two weeks of Emmerdale. Maybe it was the three hour nap I took. Yeah I think that did it.
Only four days til Harry Potter. Mel is back from Europe....they can breath easy now.The twins have some kinda rash thing.General Hospital really sucks,Nicholas Cassidine is getting kinda chunky.Has it really been 30 years I've watched One Life to Live? A Sonic drive in is opening soon in the area...rednecks rejoice.. Victoria Beckhams reality show is on tonight. Will I watch it. NO...Maybe I'll take another nap.

C.D.A.

I suffer from Chronic Depression. No this doesn't mean that I sit around all day and go poor me. That is left up to other people (deep sigh)
I thankfully only have periods that I just don't want to face life and would like to sleep. I've tried pills but they made me goofy. (wait for laugh to fade)
Today was one of those days that I woke up with the feeling. Instead of rolling over and going back to sleep I did what the doctor ordered (yes I follow Dr orders sometime)I did something. In this case went shopping.
I needed to find a black robe for the Harry Potter night. Don't ask...Couldn't find any at the department stores. Heavy lined is all I found and I knew that come Saturday night I would be roasting in it.So I want just a light cotton one...Like they have at the hospitals...mmmmm...never thought of that...should have just gotten one from there...
Anyway headed out and found nothing on the Illinois side and then down the Iowa side. So having a quest in mind I headed down river to Muscatine..I know whats in Muscatine...NOTHING. Then over to Iowa City. Coral Ridge was quiet. Most of the stores I hit very quiet. The highways the same way. very little traffic. Kept waiting to here that we had something bad happen again.
Nothing In Iowa City. Then up to Cedar Rapids. Nothing. Then I noticed it was 3 and I hadn't eaten.
Another great side effect of the depression.
Coming back Scarlett decided to let me know that it was hot and she was tired. So we took a little rest in Mechanics ville and then headed home. 1 robe blue, three shirts and two pair of shorts...
Also went over the new Rock River Bridge. its hard to get on it. and then they didn't have the signs up so didn't really know where to go...Oh the wonderful department of transportation.
Depression...little better. Tomorrow maybe clean house.
FYI Chronic Depression Anoymous

Officers investigate suspicious death
By Kurt Allemeier | Wednesday, July 11, 2007

Davenport police are treating the death of a 40-year-old man in his apartment as suspicious after a family member said the man was injured in an altercation a few weeks ago.

The investigation is a precaution, Capt. David Struckman said Tuesday outside the man’s residence at 1513 Iowa Ave. The victim was identified as Christopher Craig McVay Sr. An autopsy will be scheduled.

“You investigate for the worst and hope for the best, though there is no best in death,” Struckman said.

Police are considering the death suspicious because of the fight that occurred two or three weeks ago, though he had pre-existing medical conditions, according to police.

A family member hadn’t seen or heard from McVay since Thursday and went to his apartment, according to police. The landlord opened the apartment for the family member, and McVay’s body was found near the door.

The apartment door was locked, the windows were closed, no drugs were found, and the body showed no signs of trauma, police said. He likely died Thursday or Friday.

A Davenport crime scene technician, wearing a respirator and hazmat suit, entered the apartment before the medical examiner arrived. The first was to open a window to the apartment, and the second was to photograph the scene.

Bix at 4:30 er I mean 6

This Thursday I find myself at home. It isn't that odd,it happens a couple times a year. But tonight is one of the Bix at 6 practice runs. This gives the people a chance to get the feel for the course. I think its a good idea...but the people that do it Thursday night can't tell time. I got home at 4:45pm and already they are running down the street. Not the sidewalk even but on the street. At 5 it gets kinda busy with the people leaving the offices in downtown and off the Arsenal Island. This people should be made to wait til 6 when the traffic is thinner and the police and other volunteers are available.

Milestones..

This june I will have watched One Life to Live for 30 years. God I feel like Kathy...(Old)

Emmy nominated "One Life to Live," a soap known for its socially
relevant storylines and risks over the years, is about to reach a
milestone. Barring any network pre-emptions, "OLTL" will broadcast
its 10,000th episode on Friday, August 17th. The episode will feature
the brief return of several long-time fan favorites, including Nathan
Fillion (Joey Buchanan), Dan Gauthier (Kevin Buchanan), John Loprieno
(Cord Roberts), Tonja Walker (Alex Olanov) and James DePaiva (Max
Holden), as the show celebrates the life of Asa Buchanan. But before
that happens, the show will be honored for its landmark achievement.

On Tuesday, July 3rd, "OLTL" will be honored with an on-set
celebration by the New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre &
Broadcasting. And from July 30th through August 10th, "OLTL" will
reference the number 10,000 in each episode as a special nod to
viewers.

In a recent ABC press release, "OLTL" Executive Producer Frank
Valentini, who has been a part of the soap since episode number 4,209
in 1985, had this to say on his soap's achievement, "10,000 shows is
a remarkable achievement. I am extremely proud to be part of a show
that has been able to make such an enduring mark on popular culture."

"OLTL" creator Agnes Nixon was also on hand to offer her support
saying, "With immense pride, I congratulate all of the talented and
dedicated people over many years who are responsible for the
heartwarming success of 'One Life to Live.'"

"OLTL" premiered on July 15, 1968. Over the years the soap has
tackled a number of relevant social issues and controversial
storylines. "OLTL" has also been responsible for many
daytime "firsts" over the years. As mentioned in the ABC press
release, " The show has been lauded for its groundbreaking
exploration of social issues, award-winning performances and
innovative storylines. Along with the history-making live week in
2002, "One Life to Live" is responsible for many "firsts" in daytime
television, including themes of interracial romance and gang
violence, as well as problems of literacy, medical misdiagnoses,
lupus and racial prejudice."

The release goes on to say that, "Most recently "One Life to Live"
produced another "first," "Prom Night: The Musical." The four-day
musical event featured the high drama of a high school prom with a
score of original songs assembled by executive producer Frank
Valentini and music director Paul Glass. The stylized production
included musical performances and dance numbers, and told the star-
crossed love story of Starr (Kristen Alderson) and Cole (Brandon
Buddy). With the success of "Prom Night: the Musical," "One Life to
Live" continues to forge its unique path in ABC's daytime lineup as a
music-focused show, having hosted an impressive list of performers
including Nelly Furtado, Mary J. Blige, Jeannie Ortega, Lifehouse,
Tito Puente Jr., Simply Red, Chris Botti and Erykah Badu.

Additional accomplishments include mass critical acclaim for its 1992
homophobia storyline, which captured national headlines when it
introduced the character of a gay teen and culminated with the
emotional display of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. In 1994
the show received equally high praise and garnered four Daytime Emmy
Awards -- including one for Best Writing -- for its riveting
fraternity gang rape storyline. "One Life to Live" won four Emmys
again in 2000, including awards for costume design and music
direction, and in 2001 it was the recipient of two Emmy Awards.
Viki's breast cancer storyline was honored with the 2000 CDC Sentinel
for Health Award."

Harry Potter and The Bag Of Money

Unless your living under a rock, you know that on July 21st the last ever Harry Potter book will be released. When I heard that back in December ,I thought now was the time to read them. My plan was to slowly read them over the months. One book for each month. Well I kept putting it off
because I was hoping to find them in used bookstores. I was going to read them no matter how much I hated them but I wasn't going to pay full price. So i found the first one at Goodwill. Then got the third one of the Printer's row Book Fair...So on June 21st I started the first one. It being a kids book I knocked out that one in a day. Then I had to get the second one.(walmart) Finished that one in the weekend and number three that Tuesday. Then I hit the major hurdle. The Goblet of Fire. That one took most of a week. You can tell that they must not be editing her any more. Now I working my way through the order of the Phoenix. Plots going left and right what aren't they telling him, who's good who's evil? People that I've talked to say that 5 and 6 are the ones that they dislike. They are just big set ups for the last one. Don't expect answers to any questions. What is this Lost?
So far the books have been OK. I in my snobbish literary way see ways that they could have been improved, but I'm a lowly retailslave and J.K. has more money then the Queen so she must be doing something right. I also like that they have cleaned up J.K.s image. When the first one came out she was a broke single
mother who had to take a writing class for part of her fine for getting into a drunken fight with someone. She was drunk in a pub when the idea hit her. Now she said that she always loved to write and that she did it in outdoor cafes. They don't have outdoor cafes in Scotland.
How does it all end? J.K. sits back and counts her money. generations of kids have something to look forward to. It may even turn out to be the 21st century's Narnia. I myself think its all a bored kids dream.
