One Life To Live

It hit me today when I got home from work that One Life To Live wasn't on anymore. Out of habit for over five years I'd come home find the remote and hit the rewind and watch the show. I still feel like I've forgotten to do something I've watched the show since 1977. There was a couple years while at college and when I lived in the wilds of Montana that I wasn't able to watch it and had to keep up with the updates in the paper. When I tell people I'm a soap watcher they would ask which one? Well One Life to Live. When is that on? Oh its that wild one between All My Children and General Hospital. Yes they have gone to heaven three times, Hell,into the past and a secret underground city of Eterna. They were also the first to do inner racial dating.Hooker Housewives,D.A.D,they talked about AIDs and had active normal (for a soap) gay characters. I would say to people that it was the funniest hour on TV to me. They were a part of my family. No matter what was going on in my life I could always go to Llanview PA for a bit of Viki and Dorian. I'm not going to start watching any of the other few left. One Life was my soap and I will miss it. Below are the words to the theme song of the show from the early 90s. Some times when I'm bored and will break into singing this. People will know that they heard it somewhere but not know quite from where.

First Snow Of The Year

First snow of the year. Haven't heard if any schools are closing. I'm glad I don't have to go out in this. I know that people will be driving like nuts. Always get a craving for pizza when it snows.

Didn't get around to doing it on the first. It's been really nice and warm here. Mid 40s high of 57 one day. I know it can't continue much longer until we have the flying snow and bitter cold. But for now...nice

Well that's 2011 IN a Nutshell

Well driving to work on New Years Eve and this happened. Was a little late to work. Still got to have dinner with friends on my lunch hour. It just went a little faster then we usually do it. New Years Day someone broke into all the cars behind the house. They didn't find anything intersting in mine. I've learned I also don't lock it because they broke out the windows of the people that did.

I'm Cooking Now

This is the first thing I fixed in my new Microwave. Its an Italian Tomato Soup with cheese on the top.
I've been dropping hints for the last two years to get a microwave. Merry Christmas from my sister Mary

To celebrate me being employed Mary took me and the horror twins out to eat at Texas Roadhouse. The twins really like the drinks menu. The food was pretty good.

Heading to Chicago to Pick up Aunt Sarah

Favourite niece Corie planned to get married this weekend. Her cousin Sarah (my goddaughter)planned to fly in from LA. Sarah's mother and I planned to drive to O'Hara to pick her up. The times worked out fine. Mary got off work and while Sarah was flying across the US,we'd be flying across Illinois. I got onto American Airlines website and got the times of the flight. I saw down at the bottom of the page that you could get text updates. Sure. Signed up for that. Well Mary picked me up and off we headed for Chicago. As we leave I get a text. Flight is delayed 1/2hr. Ok takes some pressure off us to hurry. Then I get another. Maybe a hour delay. Sarah calls and tells us they have to empty the bathroom or something strange like that. So now we have almost two hours to kill and we are half way to the airport. So we turn on the good old GPS and see what's near by. We decide on the casino in Aurora.We both got players cards. I won $100. Not bad when your in the middle of unemployment. Didn't really win anything.

Day Trip to Cedar Rapids
