I Can See Clearly Now

Today I went in for my year eye exam. I have to do that for my contacts not that I'm old. But since there is a new doc I had to start all over with the paper work. Family history and all that fun stuff. Where it has if anyone in your family is crazy (they put it the nice way)its so hard not to put yes.
Any way the Doc who's diploma is from May of 2007,got off on the wrong foot. He tells me that people my age need to have a complete check up. Glacoma and all the other stuff. MY AGE.....So after the fun look here and here and whats clearer and now and now...they dilated my eyes...Oh fun. Well it didn't take the first time...so he did it again...and still after 10 minutes nothing. What did I know I had my contacts out and couldn't see anything. Finally it takes..and booom,I noticed the differance. Still blurry but everything was really really bright. He then put on his WII helmet and flashed really hurtfully bright lights in my eyes. After all that he said my eyes are ok. I asked how long before I can see again? Well since I had to have three drops instead of 4 hrs it could be 8-10...
Then they let me loose on the world. I could see fine at a distance but close up. Nothing. Got home and tried to read HA and tried to watch TV HA. Tried to do some work on the computer...That was fun. NOT.I looked in the mirror and it looked like Little Orphan Annie...whites and then big black middles...So I did what I'm good at I went to sleep.
Now here I am almost 12 hrs later and just now stuff is returning to normal...or as normal for me. Another year to do it all over again.

A Good Slice

The other night I didn't feel like cooking and I had a craving for pizza. I didn't feel also like driving the 1-3hrs to get my favorite so I called one of the places here in the hood. Uncle Bills. I went and picked it up the smell of hot pizza filled the inside of the Blazer and I was ready right then to dig in. I opened the box and found it was a Harris pizza knockoff...Sadness.
Well it was too late now and I didn't have a really strong reason to return it and I was hungry. So with closed mind, I drove home and tucked in. What don't I like about it. It could be the square slices...the sweet sauce...the sausage paste....To me a pizza needs to be round...there are square ones out there,beware..the slices need to be triangle, rounded crust at one end and a point at the other. The sausage needs to be seen. Little meat balls would be nice. I don't know if that is what they call Chicago style or not. Harris and all it's clones have been around here for years and people rave about it. Not me...I also don't like Maid-Rites but that's a whole other food group.
So the next time I have a craving for pizza I guess a quick trip up to Rock Falls to Angelos or if I really have time to kill maybe Chicago for Gino's. Oh the lengths I go for my eats.

Sunday in the Park with...

The end of the summer arts fest held in the East Village of Davenport. It started out as more of a Ole English Fair...That has fallen to the way side..Its now just arts and crafts people

Its held in Lindsay Park. The park overlooks the Mississippi in the area that it runs east/west. This is lilly pads that are there because of the slow current of the river this year.

A young man trying to do magic tricks...Look no audience

Just a colourful banner.

A hold over from the English faire. Man on stilts if you didn't notice

Listening to Music in the middle of the area..Walking in Memphis by little Bobby..it helped to have a couple beers in you to enjoy.

Saw a picture that I thought Lulu would like but the people didn't like having pictures taken of their stuff..Why..I can't paint....barely take camera pictures...Oh and look colourful bowls and vases there at the end.

This booth had clocks made from computer parts. Really neat....really expensive

My Vacation...by I.M. Bored

For the last 10 days I've been on vacation...In that time I've gotten not a darn thing done if I could help it.
I did finish off a couple books.Straighten the CD collection (who's got the case for Steve Millers Greatest Hits)Watched a couple movies and slept...I figure a total of 110hrs...now this is over 10 days so its not that much. Went to lunch with friends. Ate at places I've never been before,Boozies and the San Francisco grill. Both places I'd go back to. Saturday was the high point of the week. With Lulu I went to the Beaux Arts Fair. Its in Downtown and local artist show off and sell their stuff(junk). There was some very interesting stuff. They had wood cuttings with names in them...Could find Savannah but not Constance...Not even a Connie. Went into the Bucktown artist building.Smile...nod...nod..smile...nod...oh yes..how nice....what the he..is this..smile nod....oh its a what...stand back and squint...oh oh...nice...
then off to the mall for some retail therapy. Saw the ugliest shirt...Ralph Lauren...flowers...can't really do it justice...lets just say Ralph must have been drunk or something when he ok'd that material. Its like a train wreck your eye just keeps coming back. $85 to begin with..marked down to $11 maybe when it gets to five...it looks like all of them that came in are still there.
Sunday went to a pub and had dinner with the Skinny White Chick, In this little hole in the wall place saw people that I know...So its true I know only bar flies.
Its been pretty nice out the whole time I've been off...Today just to add to the depression its been over cast and raining...Oh well I knew it had to come to an end...6weeks till my next one...

Out My Front Door

The view out my front door....No not really, this is my friend Ann's backyard in Tucson,AZ

The view out the front door looking North on to Kirkwood. Just a nice quiet neighbourhood street.

The Grand First Presbyterian church on the North west corner of Kirkwood and Iowa.

What it looks like on Bix Day. I don't know any of those people out there.

Maybe Everything

To make a little extra money I sing at Weddings and Funerals. Yes hired by the people, no more crashing... much....
Today I had a funeral to do.I've been asked in the past to sing what some people think are very odd songs.
Happy Days Are Here Again, the jazzy version. Lonesome Loser,Send in the Clowns and a very bluesy version of Amazing Grace.

This was a Catholic one. They had a little visitation before the service. It was business as usual until the guy with the camera walked in.
Yep just like a wedding the guy went around taking candid pictures of the people. The people shock I guess were the priest the organist and I.
the family went up and had their picture taken with the guest of honor..and then others. then they asked the organist and I...I asked her if she had ever done anything like this...No not in her 36 years. Once or twice little old ladies took one just before they closed the casket. And if it was someone famous, but nothing like this.
I have to give the guy credit...he didn't say smile or anything like that. He just asked to move a head to avoid glasses glare and maybe to move in..
I did look up the ladies obit to see if maybe I could get some insight in to why... I found out nothing...
No I never asked...I've learned never talk to anyone at a funeral..Its just easier on me that way.
So for now I think I've seen everything...but I'm sure that will change in the future.

After a fun morning singing at a funeral I met friends (yes I have them shut up)to celebrate my birthday....The good...the bad...and all the rest...

What? I'm afraid Brazil didn't hear that.

No your mistaken, they all didn't just yell my name when I walked in and ask if I wanted my usual...

I've been waiting here three hours for yous guys..I've only had two or four or soo
